In this adaptation of the popular video game Dead Cells, players venture into a shifting and ruthless island infested with creatures born of the infection known as the Malaise. The mission is clear: explore, fight, die, mutate, and start over in an endless loop of action and survival.

Each player takes on the role of one of the Beheaded, heroes doomed to relive their fate over and over again. Exploring biomes opens up multiple paths within a constantly shifting castle: choose chests containing powerful weapons, find hidden runes that unlock new areas, or enhance your character’s powers with scrolls. All while hordes of enemies lurk around every corner.

Combat is resolved through a streamlined system based on action cards, which simultaneously determine the three phases of each encounter. Each class has unique abilities and its own playstyle, multiplying strategic options and the variety of encounters. Loot obtained in battle—gold, equipment, scrolls, and above all the prized Cells—will be key to progressing.

When death comes, nothing is ever truly lost. Even though items and gold vanish, the Cells remain, allowing you to acquire permanent mutations: new action cards, health boosts, inventory expansions, or blueprints to strengthen your item deck. Thanks to these upgrades, each cycle provides new tools to delve deeper into the island and face increasingly powerful creatures.

Replayability is one of Dead Cells’ greatest attractions: changing biomes, stronger monsters, and increasingly tempting rewards make every game a different challenge. Constant progression ensures that every defeat is also a step toward the final victory.

Designed by Antoine Bauza, Corentin Lebrat, Ludovic Maublanc, and Théo Rivière, Dead Cells is designed for groups of 1 to 4 players, ages 14 and up, with a playing time of approximately 45 minutes. Will you be able to break the cycle and conquer the island… or will you lose your mind once again?
