The Gang
You are a band of professional thieves known as “The Gang,” and you are plotting a series of master heists. The success of these heists depends on the perfect coordination of the entire gang. To win the game, you will have to cooperate to open three vaults without setting off the alarm three times. And how exactly will you do that? By playing poker... cooperatively!
The Gang is based on poker, more specifically the Texas Hold'em variant. If you already know the rules of Texas Hold'em, you'll find it easier to learn and play The Gang. However, even beginners can learn to play very quickly, as the basics of poker are very simple. Unlike the classic game, there's no need to bluff here, as all players collaborate. The real challenge lies in knowing how to interpret the moves of the other players.
Designed by John Cooper and Kory Heath, The Gang allows games for groups of 3 to 6 people, ages 10 and up, lasting about 20 minutes. A game of The Gang consists of 3 to 5 rounds. Each round consists of 4 turns, followed by the Reveal phase. At the end of each round, you will check whether you have been successful or not. You win the game if you succeed in 3 rounds. You lose if you fail 3 times.
At the beginning of each round, all players receive two cards, which form their hand. Players must then take one of the available white tokens, which show a variable number of stars (from 1 to the corresponding number, depending on the number of players). These chips are the means by which players communicate their estimation of the strength of their card combination. That is, if you take the chip with the most stars, you are indicating that you believe you have the strongest card combination on the table. If you take the chip with 1 star, you believe you have the weakest card combination.
There is no turn order, and players can exchange tokens as many times as they want during their turn. In the following rounds, cards will be added to the center of the table (as in Texas Hold'em) and tokens will be dealt again up to 3 more times. In the end, if the estimates are correct, the heist will have been successful.
The game includes three extra difficulty modes: advanced, professional, and master criminal, for players looking for greater challenges. Challenge and specialist cards come into play in these modes. Are you ready to pull off a masterstroke?
